OIL & GAS SAFETY PROGRAMS
H2S Alive
This eight hour safety program is the oil and gas industry standard for H2S training. It covers the properties, health effects of the gas, initial response strategy, how to protect yourself, detecting and monitoring for H2S, rescue techniques, emergency response planning and artificial respiration.
Confined Space Entry
This course is to provide the trainee with the knowledge and training needed to safely enter and perform work inside a confined space. It will also provide the trainee with the knowledge and training needed to safely plan and execute a rescue inside a confined space.
Petroleum Safety Training (PST) – Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS)
It offers nine general safety lessons and four optional industry specific lessons; only one optional lesson must be completed. This safety training program was designed and produced by Enform for workers in the petroleum industry. This comprehensive program includes a WHMIS certificate as well as specialized lessons in four sectors of the oil industry. Learners need only take one of the optional lessons which pertain to their sector. PST meets all of the requirements for the requirements for the IRP 16 – Basic Industry Safety Orientation.
The Petroleum Safety Training (PST) Program and the Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS) have been granted equivalency. The Construction Owners Association of Alberta (COAA), Enform, and the Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA) have performed a comparison of the content of the two programs and deemed the objectives and theory of the training to be equivalent.
Transportation of Dangerous Goods
This four hour program covers the transportation of dangerous goods legislation, safety markers and placards, safe handling, incident reporting, emergency response procedures and documentation.
Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS)
This four hour program teaches workers how to protect themselves and work safely with or around hazardous products. It covers the hazardous material classification system, workplace labels, supplier label and material data sheet.
